Shopped

From Pixels to Pencils Aug 25, 2014

The last time I was surrounded by so many power tools was in 8th grade woodshop which was a quarter-of-a-century ago (yeah…).  Today, I found myself in my new classroom where I would spend my afternoons for the next four months. The space seemed rather large for seventeen students; however, I suppose that is a good thing.  I couldn’t ask for a higher ceiling or a more open floor plan and large bay doors made for the biggest windows I would ever have in a workspace.

The first piece of equipment we used was the tablesaw.  Having only used a saw less than a handful of times, I was slightly relieved to hear that each tablesaw was equipped with a SawStop, an electronic brake which engaged when a change in current is detected.
