Habitat for Humanity framing
From Pixels to Pencils Jun 02, 2016
In the odd space of time between graduation and the beginning of my job at the millwork shop, I had a couple free days to catch up and clear out work that I had kept putting off over the last year. One of these things was working on updating the carpentry club website. So one fine Thursday morning, I found myself in a very familiar space–sitting in front of my computer in my home office at 8am. It started well enough. My typical routine of get-up, shower, walk the dog, make coffee, sit down at my desk, felt good having not done it for months. It felt good until 10am rolled along and it started to feel as if I had been sitting at my desk for the entire day. I got up, went downstairs, found a snack, said hello to the dog, then made my way back to my desk. Nearly an hour passed before I started looking at the clock again. 11am?? That’s it? I had another 6 hours before I could respectably “clock out” and I knew that it was going to be torture. By 2pm (after a lunch break and more staring at the screen), I knew that I need to get out. I realized that there was framing work with Habitat for Humanity the next day, so I knew exactly what I would do. I convinced George to join me and Friday was awesome.
