Concrete take three

From Pixels to Pencils Jun 25, 2015

What’s more fun than pouring concrete on a Wednesday afternoon?  Very little.  Actually, showing up at the shop with more than three people.  After catching up and socializing most of the time, I quickly set up my little reusable form (forgetting to level it) and George helped mix up a new batch of concrete.

Instead of the 2.5 to 1 ratio we used in the previous batch, I plugged a 1:1 ratio into the CCI mix spreadsheet to see if we could get a mix that wasn’t so stiff.  The smaller ratio of sand and the increase of water helped.  Oh, and the six ounces of superplasticizer.  Mix was much easier to lay and we set the plate vibrator on for the next 40 minutes.  Even as we turned it off there were still air bubbles coming up to the surface.

I just noticed that other people (i.e. George) seems to always be doing the work for my projects.  Coincidence.  Pure coincidence.
