First pour

From Pixels to Pencils Jun 13, 2015

Six months after the beginning of the Spring 2015 semester, I finally got to pour concrete. We started by mixing some CSA Rapid-Set. Not as if you could tell by the name, but it fired off and started setting in a little over 8 minutes. Yes, it was a hot Hawaiian day.

So George grabbed an 80 lb. bag of Quikcrete 5000 (or something) and we mixed up a new batch.  We got it into the form and ran the plate vibrator.

We stripped it two days later and voila!  An (almost) perfect 12 in. x 12 in. x 2 in. slab with decent edges and face surface.
